Mueller Industries Inc. has added a new member to its board of directors — and he’s worked in the Memphis- area financial sector for decades.

The Collierville-based manufacturer has added William Drummond to its board, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). He’ll serve on its audit committee and begin his tenure on Jan. 1, 2022.

“We are excited to welcome Bill to our board of directors,” Mueller’s CEO, Greg Christopher, told MBJ in an email. “Bill’s vast knowledge and experience in the areas of accounting and financial reporting, combined with his reputation for personal integrity and

connections to the greater Memphis community, will further strengthen and diversify the board’s oversight capabilities.”

Currently, Drummond is a principal with The Marston Group, an accounting firm with offices in Memphis and Nashville. The firm was a 2021 MBJ Best Places to Work honoree.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Drummond spent nearly 40 years with Ernst & Young rising to become a partner there. He joined The Marston Group in 2013. In 2015, he became CFO of former local public company Jernigan Capital (JCAP) — now NexPoint Storage Partners Inc. — but retired in from JCAP in 2017 and returned to The Marston Group.

He leads the firm’s accounting and insurance practices, which include the due diligence, quality of earnings, and transactions practice.

Drummond’s appointment comes amid a major year for Mueller. Over the first three quarters of FY 2021, the company has recorded a total of $2.8 billion in net sales, compared to the $1.7 billion it had made through Q3 last year.
